Chapter 102
No.1
The next evening, a sleek, black armored sedan pulled up to the curb in Tribeca.
The gallery in front of them was a fortress of modern art, known for its extreme, retina-scanning security protocols.
Elisa stepped out of the back seat into the biting winter air. She wore a custom-tailored, deep navy blue suit. The cut was razor-sharp, hugging her shoulders and falling in clean, aggressive lines. She wore zero jewelry. She did not look like a socialite. She looked like a lethal corporate weapon.
Alastair stepped out of the other side of the car. He walked up beside her, handing her a heavily encrypted tablet.
"The target profiles are loaded," Alastair said, his voice a low rumble.
"Our initial analysis is complete," he continued, his tone grim. "A direct cyberattack on the Chambers Group's core financial systems, launched from any known Aethel server, would be like firing a missile from our own headquarters. It's powerful, but the blowback would be catastrophic. August's legal
team would bury us in litigation for corporate sabotage. We need a ghost."

Elisa nodded, her eyes fixed on the gallery entrance. "An untraceable launch point. An independent, offshore server node that has no legal or digital connection to Aethel Intelligence."
"Exactly," Alastair confirmed. "But building that kind of digital fortress requires a significant amount of 'clean' capital. Money that can't be traced back to me, you, or Aethel. August has frozen your personal war chest, so we need a bridge loan. A massive one."
"Tonight's host is Preston Vance," Alastair murmured as they walked toward the entrance."He is the most aggressive hedge fund prodigy on Wall Street right now. He has the capital you need."
They reached the heavy glass doors. The security guards scanned the supreme-tier electronic invitations generated by Aethel Intelligence. A red laser swept across Elisa's right eye. The light turned green. The doors clicked open.
The interior of the gallery was breathtaking. It was a private, closed-door antique appraisal event. Soft, focused spotlights illuminated priceless artifacts encased in glass. The air smelled of expensive agarwood and old money.
Elisa took a flute of champagne from a passing waiter. Her black eyes swept the room with mechanical precision.
She locked onto her target in less than ten seconds.
No.3
Preston Vance stood near a massive Renaissance tapestry. He wore a silver-gray suit that fit his lean frame perfectly. He held a glass of bourbon, speaking fluent German to a European banker. His eyes held a cold, arrogant intelligence that dismissed everyone around him.
Alastair placed a hand on the small of Elisa's back and guided her across the room. He stepped into Preston's line of sight, smoothly interrupting the conversation.
"Preston," Alastair said, extending a hand.
Preston turned. He shook Alastair's hand, but his eyes immediately shifted to Elisa.
The bored arrogance in Preston's expression vanished. His pupils dilated slightly. He took in the sharp navy suit, the complete lack of desperate socialite posturing, and the freezing, analytical depth in her dark eyes. She looked like a scalpel hidden inside a velvet box.
"Preston, I want to introduce you to Aethel's Chief Technical Advisor," Alastair said.
Preston raised a single eyebrow. A genuine smile touched his lips. He extended his hand toward her.

"It is a rare privilege to finally meet the mysterious Faye," Preston said. His voice was smooth, carrying the distinct cadence of West Coast old money.
Elisa gripped his hand. Her handshake was firm, brief, and entirely professional.
Preston immediately tested her. He threw out a highly complex, aggressive question regarding the predictive algorithms of Al healthcare models, using dense Wall Street terminology.
Elisa did not blink. She took a sip of her champagne and fired back a concise, mathematically flawless answer that completely dismantled the premise of his question.
A flash of pure, unfiltered admiration sparked in Preston's eyes. He had not met a woman who could match his intelectual hostility in years.
He leaned in closer, opening his mouth to ask about her funding requirements.
A sudden, loud commotion at the front entrance shattered the quiet elegance of the gallery.

The gallery manager rushed forward, his face pale and sweating. Two massive bodyguards in black suits violently shoved a waiter out of the way.
August Chambers walked intothe main hall.①
He wore a bespoke black tuxedo. One hand rested casually in his pocket. He moved with the heavy, suffocating arrogance of a king stepping into a conquered village.
Allena clung tightly to his arm. She wore a vulgar,floor-length gown covered entirely in crushed diamonds. She looked like a walking chandelier, her chin tilted up as she paraded her státus to the room.
Elisa's spine instantly locked into a rigid line. Her stomach dropped. She had not expected August to have access to this specific,closed-door event.
Alastair's eyes turned to ice. He subtly shifted his weight, moving half a step forward to place his large frame partially between Elisa and the entrance.
August's eyes scanned the crowd like a radar. He bypassed the billionaires and the art dealers. He locked directly onto Elisa.
No.6
He saw the sharp blue suit. He saw her standing
intimately close to Preston Vance, a man younger and currently more hyped than August himself.
The muscles in August's jaw violently contracted.A hot, toxic wave of territorial jealousy exploded in his chest.
Allena followed his gaze. She saw Elisa. Alook of shock crossed her face, immediately followed by a vicious, venomous smirk. She intentionally pressed her heavy breaststighter against August's bicep.
August did not hesitate. He marched directly across the gallery floor, pulling Allena with him. The crowd of elites quickly parted, sensing the sudden, violent drop in the room's temperature.
Preston noticed the shift in the atmosphere. He stopped talking. He looked at August bearing down on them, then glanced at Elisa's frozen, emotionless profile. He took a sip of his bourbon, highly amused by the incoming collision.
August stopped less than three feet from Elisa.
No.7
He did not look at her face. He let his eyes drag slowly, aggressively down the length of her body, stripping her of her professional armor with a look of pure degradation.
He ignored Alastair completely. He locked eyes
with Preston.
"Mr. Vance," August said. His voice dripped with condescending authority. "It seems the entry requirements for your little appraisals have severely dropped in quality."
The surrounding billionaires stopped talking. The silence in the immediate vicinity became absolute.Everyone waited for the blood to spill.
Elisa's fingers tightened around the stem of her champagne flute. She did not look away. She stared directly into August's dark, furious eyes, the invisible war between them igniting theair.
